Arrest warrants issued for 500 tax defaulters

RAWALPINDI—On the directives of the Punjab government, the Excise and Taxation Department has issued arrest warrants of nearly 500 defaulters aiming to ensure the recovery of Rs. 100 million till June 5.
According to sources, the Excise and Taxation Department has expedited its campaign aiming to meet the Property Tax target set by the government till June. Out of 68,000 tax payers of the city, 50 percent tax prayers deliberately paying the tax not in time, sources added. Special squads comprised on Property Tax Inspectors have been formed to arrest the tax defaulters and the Inspectors have the authority to arrest the tax defaulters.
It has been learnt that Excise and Taxation Officer (Property Tax) Raja Riaz Ali Khan while taking action against the tax defaulters has arrested 60 defaulters and recovered Rs. 2 million.
