ID&BOI assures to attract more investment from France

ISLAMABAD—Acting Secretary Investment Division and Board of Investment
(ID&BOI) on Saturday assured the newly appointed Investment Counselor
for France Jean Philippe Quercy due assistance of ID&BOIand Pakistan’s
mission in France in order to show case Pakistan in a more appropriate
manner so as to attract more foreign investment in the country from
France.
This was stated by Acting Secretary Investment Division and Board of
Investment (ID&BOI), Major (Retd) Iqbal Ahmad while talking to Jean
Philippe Quercy who called on him here Saturday.
The Acting Secretary ID&BOI discussed with him, the various areas of
investments in Pakistan with immense potential and prospects for growth
especially the manufacturing sector, horticulture and dairy sector.
Ahmed was of the view that Pakistan has a very strong consumer market
with highly educated human resource and cheap labour.
He was informed about the concept of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) with
not only liberal investment policies but also connected infrastructures.
He added that Pakistan enjoys a very ideal geo-strategic location which
makes it one of the preferred investment destinations in the world.
During the meeting Ahmad discussed with Quercy that he will be
responsible for Image building of Pakistan in France by fixing all the
negative perceptions.
He has to work as a liaison between foreign investors and ID&BOI
answerinvestor concerns and investor queries.
Ahmad highlighted the fact that France is one of the major economies in
the European region and also it is among the investment exporting
countries of the world.
Jean Philippe Quercy has recently served as a Minister Counsellor for
Economic and Commercial Affairs having charge of Pakistan and
Afghanistan.
Quercy has been living in Pakistan for the last four years and has
extensively travelled all around the major cities like Karachi,
Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar, and Quetta as well as Northern Areas.
He will also assist ID&BOI, to organize conferences, investment forums,
seminars, exhibition and road shows in France in coordination with
Pakistan’s foreign mission.
