Target of exports can achieve through improving working environment

ISLAMABAD—Pakistan has a vast potential to earn foreign exchange through exports and the target of enhanced exports volume can be achieved only if issues like working environment in industrial units, workers proper training and quality as well as safety standards are resolved in line with the international rectified conventions and protocols.
These recommendations were forwarded by the representatives of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and local traders to a delegation of Punjab Resource Management Programme (PRMP) here.
The PRMP is Punjab government’s wing that has been assigned to create awareness among the local industrial, agriculture and commercial units as well as establish a coordination vehicle regarding coherent information exchange about various international conventions and other standards in order to boost country’s exports.
According to the recommendations, industrial units mainly Punjab are confronted with host of issues like labour, environment, safety and health and other social standards, that are negatively impacting the annual volume of exports.
To improve the situation, the representative delegation of traders and industrialists called for proper training of workers according to the international standards, offering of tax incentives to industrialists in order to achieve production targets and establishment of special cells for normalizing the trade relations with the neighboring states.
They also stressed the need for creating awareness through media about the impacts of complying with the international protocols and conventions.
