Target of exports can achieve through improving working environment
Staff Report
ISLAMABAD—Pakistan has a vast potential to earn foreign exchange through
exports and the target of enhanced exports volume can be achieved only
if issues like working environment in industrial units, workers proper
training and quality as well as safety standards are resolved in line
with the international rectified conventions and protocols.
These recommendations were forwarded by the representatives of
Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and local traders to a
delegation of Punjab Resource Management Programme (PRMP) here.
The PRMP is Punjab government’s wing that has been assigned to create
awareness among the local industrial, agriculture and commercial units
as well as establish a coordination vehicle regarding coherent
information exchange about various international conventions and other
standards in order to boost country’s exports.
According to the recommendations, industrial units mainly Punjab are
confronted with host of issues like labour, environment, safety and
health and other social standards, that are negatively impacting the
annual volume of exports.
To improve the situation, the representative delegation of traders and
industrialists called for proper training of workers according to the
international standards, offering of tax incentives to industrialists in
order to achieve production targets and establishment of special cells
for normalizing the trade relations with the neighboring states.
They also stressed the need for creating awareness through media about
the impacts of complying with the international protocols and
conventions. |
