Rs14.35m of Zakat released

ISLAMABAD—The Government has released Rs.14.35 million from Zakat fund to the District Zakat Committee, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) out of which Rs.9.06 million were disbursed among 7,227 beneficiaries.
Rs.39.90 million were allocated from zakat fund for distribution among deserving people during the current financial year in the ICT, Joint Secretary (Zakat), Khawas Khan Niazi told . Giving the details, he said Rs. 11.69 million were released under regular zakat programmes out of which Rs.6.41 million were disbursed among 1,921 beneficiaries.
He said that Rs.2.63 million were released and disbursed among 5,306 poor and deserving as Eid grant.
The Joint Secretary informed that Rs.13.86 million were released under special programme but this amount has not so far been utilized by the District Zakat Committee.
This amount was released for permanent rehabilitation scheme and stipend for students of technical educational institutions, he added. Khawas Khan Niazi said guzara allowance, stipends for the student of deeni madaris, health care, social welfare and rehabilitation and marriage assistance to unmarried women are given under the regular zakat programme.
