Increase recorded in science & technology investment: HEC

ISLAMABAD—Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) Dr. Atta ur Rehman has said Pakistan has substantially increased its investment in science and technology and higher education for its socio economic development.
Addressing a three-day international workshop on the establishment of technology and innovation policy research centre here on Friday, he said about 60 billion rupees have been approved for the development of human resources. He said under this programme, professionals and students will be sent abroad for higher education.
The HEC Chairman said the government formulated an I.T. policy which helped increase inflow of investments in the country. In his key note address, Dr. LEE YEE, President ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology emphasized the need for allocating more money in the Education, Science and Technology for the economic development of the OIC countries.—Onlin
