Deposed CJ’s call on Zardari no breach of conduct: Tariq

ISLAMABAD—Justice (Retd) Tariq Mehmood said deposed chief justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry had gone to Zardari House to condole with Asif Ali Zardari on the Shahadat of Benazir Bhutto adding no discussion was held on any other topic during the meeting.
He said this while talking to media persons here Thursday after meeting between Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and Asif Ali Zardari. He told deposed chief justice of Pakistan was detained on the occasion of assassination of Benazir Bhutto; therefore he could not condole with Asif Zardari. He has now been released therefore, he has come here to express condolence, Justice (r) Tariq added.
Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry arrival in Zardari House was not breach of code of conduct as no case was pending against Asif Ali Zardari in Supreme Court, he told. Responding to a question he said the two major political parties through Murree declaration had promised to reinstate deposed judges within 30 days. “We will be looking forward to implementation of this declaration.
8 judges had passed an order ahead of November, 3 steps, he said adding parliament through a resolution would ask the government for reinstatement of judges with reference to this order, he told. The deposed judges would stand restored through issuance of an executive order, he added.
Vice chairman Pakistan Bar Council Ali Ahmed Kurd has said that the lawyers will not accept any such decision regarding reinstatement of judges if all deposed judges are not reinstated who did not take oath under the PCO on November 3 last.
Addressing a press conference here at the press club on Thursday, he said that all teposed judges must be reinstated. “The lawyers community will not accept any such decision relating to reinstatement of judges in which reinstate the judges and exclude the deposed chief justice or any other judge in the reinstatement,” he explained.
He demanded of the parliament to reinstate all the deposed judges including the sacked chief justice of Pakistan within 30 days. He said: “the lawyers community expresses its full confidence over the new parliament and the community will continue its full support to the new parliament.” He claimed that conducting of free, fair and transparent elections was ensured on February 18 due to movement of lawyers in the country. He appealed to the members of civil society and activists of political parties and the people to ensure their maximum participation for welcoming of the deposed chief justice of Pakistan upon his arrival in the provincial capital on March 31.
He said that the deposed chief justice will be given warm welcome upon his arrival in the city on that day. President Balochistan High Court Bar Association Baz Muhammad Kakar, vice chairman Balochistan Bar Council Hashim Kakar and other senior advocates were also present on the occasion.
