Rumours swirl on AG’s resignation

ISLAMABAD—Attorney General of Pakistan Justice (Retd) MaliK Muhammad Qayyum Thursday denied the media reports about his resignation. Talking to PTV, the Attorney General said that these reports are baseless as he has not resigned. It may be mentioned here that earlier some television channels claimed that Attorney General has resigned from his post and President Pervez Musharraf has accepted his resignation. President Pervez Musharraf has accepted the resignation of Attorney General Malik Muhammad Qayyum
Reliable sources have reported that Malik Abdul Qayyum had already met President a few days back and had tendered his resignation, but had been advised by President to keep his post until the new government took office. Now that the new government has been formed, it would also be appointing its own Attorney General.
