PARC asks scientists to send innovative ideas

ISLAMABAD—Chairman Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC), Dr. M.E.Tusneem has asked scientists from all over the country to send innovative ideas and submit projects to the council with special focus on various important emerging issues.
Addressing a high-level meeting of the Board of Directors (BoD) ofAgricultural Research Endowment Fund (AREF) of Agricultural Linkage Programme (ALP) here he said PARC would always welcome innovative ideas of the scientists.
He said the ALP was set up with an aim to promote and support research activities in agricultural sector in accordance with Pakistan’s long-term development goals and promote scientific cooperation between the US and Pakistan. Tusneem said that PARC being the apex national agricultural researchorganisation was playing an important role in agricultural research.
Director Planning ALP Shahida Jamil on the occasion briefed about the overall ALP activities and progress. The BoD approved the ALP budget for the year 2007-08 worth Rs.2.2176 million. The meeting was attended by officials from USDA, Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, PARC, representatives and heads of Provincial Agricultural Research Institutions.—Agencies
