Top legislator meets Samoan guests

BEIJING—China is ready to work with Samoa to increase pragmatic cooperation and advance traditional friendship, said top Chinese legislator Wu Bangguo on Wednesday.
Wu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, and chairman of the National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, was speaking with Speaker of Legislative Assembly of Samoa Tolofuaivalelei Falemoe Leiataua and his delegation of the Human Rights Protection Party of Samoa.
Wu said every nation, big or small, rich or poor, was an equal member of the international community, and China opposed big countries bullying small ones.
China would work with Samoa to continue high level visits, increase political mutual trust, expand pragmatic cooperation in economy, trade, culture, education, health and other areas, and strengthen coordination in international and regional affairs.
Wu said China applauded Samoa’s adherence to the one-China policy.
Tolofuaivalelei spoke highly of China’s development path and policy, saying that Samoa would stick to the one-China stance, and oppose any secessionist act.
Tolofuaivalelei wished success for Beijing Olympic Games. He and his delegation are visiting China at the invitation of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee
