Ansar Burney Trust releases list of Pak prisoners in Indian Jails

ISLAMABAD—The human and civil rights organisation, Ansar Burney Trust, on Wednesday released a list of 46 Pakistani prisoners including women who have been languishing in Indian jails even after completing their sentences and for whom the Trust is working for release and repatriation.
Former Federal Minister for Human Rights and Chairman of the Ansar Burney Trust International, Ansar Burney in a press release said that the Trust had received the list of these Pakistani prisoners in the Jails of Punjab province of India.
They had all completed their sentences and were waiting to be released and repatriated to Pakistan. Prominent human rights lawyer and member of the International Bar Association (UK) and American Bar Association (USA) Ansar Burney said he is in contact with the authorities in India to get these Pakistanis out from the prisons on humanitarian grounds and in the greater interest of justice.
“We have started a search for the families of these prisoners in Pakistan and are also in contact with the authorities in India to get the release of these Pakistanis soon,” said Ansar Burney.
He asked the families of all such prisoners to contact Ansar Burney Trust at Wasiamal Building, Arambagh Road, Karachi; or on phone no (021) 2623382, 2623383, 2626274 or on mobile no: 0300-8243460 to confirm the nationality and relation of the family with the prisoner.
Ansar Burney said he is trying his best to bring back all such Pakistani prisoners who have already completed their sentences in Indian Jails to rehabilitate them in Pakistan on humanitarian grounds.He is also expected to leave for India soon, to meet Pakistani prisoners languishing in Indian jails and to lobby for their release.
