Meeting of SAARC Focal Group, Police Chiefs to start from April 15

ISLAMABAD—Spokesperson of the Interior Ministry Brig (retd) Javed Iqbal
Cheema has informed that the meeting of SAARC Focal Group and Police
Chiefs has been postponed and now would be held from April 15 to 17 in
Islamabad.
Addressing weekly briefing here on Tuesday, the Spokesperson of the
Interior Ministry said that the meeting earlier was to be held on
Tuesday and new dates have been fixed with the consultations of Saarc
Secretariat and member countries.
Brig (retd) Javed Iqbal Cheema said that the strategy against war on
terror to be finalized by the new Government be implemented. New
Government has been setup and the country is moving towards democracy,
added by Interior Minister Spokesperson.
The Spokesperson of the Interior Ministry said the last week was very
important in context with law and order situation as election of the
Prime Minister, Speaker and the Deputy Speaker and NA session were held
and no untoward incident was reported from any parts of the country. The
Nation also celebrated Eid Milad-un-Nabi, Pakistan Day, Good Friday and
Holi in the last week, he added.
Commenting on the Swat situation, Brig (retd) Javed Iqbal Cheema said
that three illegal FM Radio Stations were shutdown in the area while
besides arresting of 12 people, illegal material was also recovered.
Responding to a question, the Spokesperson of the Interior Ministry said
that the challan of accused involved in the Benazir murder case has been
presented in the court while immense development has been made regarding
the investigation of attack on FIA Building.
Answering a question regarding the arrest of Rauf Khalid, Brig (retd)
Javed Iqbal Cheema said that we would not allow anyone to escape. The
Constitutional Avenue would be opened for normal traffic after
normalization of the situation, he added.
