Work underway to cope with national calamities: Farooq

ISLAMABAD—Urging the coordination between all the departments to cope any emergency situation, Chairman National Disaster Management Cell (NDMC), Lt Gen (retd) Farooq Ahmed Khan has said that work is underway on emergent basis to tackle national calamities in future.
Addressing as a Chief Guest in a local hotel on Monday in the initial session of National Scooping Workshop, the Chairman NDMC said that training is being imparted to staff of the concerned departments. Lt Gen (retd) Farooq Ahmed Khan on the occasion said that the nation can not forget the October 8, 2005 earthquake and the role of Pakistan Army, Government’s departments and NGOs would be remembered forever.
He said that the rehabilitation of quake-affectees is being continued and the functioning of NDMC is being improved with the passage of time. The workshop which was participated by national and international Disaster Experts shed the light on the strategy to cope national calamities.
