Hilal-i-Pakistan conferred on Sheikh Hamdan

ISLAMABAD—President Pervez Musharraf on Sunday conferred Hilal-i-Pakistan on Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Deputy Prime Minister of United Arab Emirates for his exemplary services for the victims of October 2005 earthquake in Pakistan and for strengthening Pak-UAE relations.
The award was announced at an investiture ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr in connection with Pakistan Day. Sheikh Hamdan, who is also the Chairman UAE Red Crescent Authority rendered significant services to Pakistan and played active role for providing relief to the victims of devastating earthquake of October 2005. He also played an important role as Chairman UAE-RCA and set up a tent village, 100-bed field hospital and six mobile units in Balakot where more than 26,000 injured people were provided medical treatment.
