4 Indian troops killed in IHK

NEW DELHI—In a fierce gun-battle in occupied Kashmir on Sunday morning, four Indian security personnel were killed and three others injured.
Official sources in Srinagar said the gun- battle broke out during a search operation at Telbal on Harwan-Hazratbal road on the outskirts of Srinagar. Three police personnel and a CRPF jawan were killed. The sources claimed that a militant was also killed. Another militant who was injured in the fighting managed to escape, media reports quoting sources said. The sources said the gun-battle took place on the banks of Dal Lake during the search operation. The militants ambushed the search party, triggering the gunbattle which lasted several hours. The area was still under tight security.
On March 19, the militants triggered a massive improvised explosive device at high security exhibition crossing in the heart of Srinagar, killing one person and injuring seventeen others. The gun-battle was the first major encounter between militants and Indian security personnel this year in Srinagar, the sources added. —Agencies
