PEPCO, KESC settle payment row

ISLAMABAD—Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) will make all payments directly to PEPCO, received from various Federal and Government of Sindh Departments/Agencies.
It was agreed during the meeting, which was held in ministry of water and power under the chairmanship of Minister for water and power here on Tuesday.
Earlier, the meeting reviewed the issues of KESC regarding payments of outstanding dues and the additional supply of power to KESC.
Ministry of Finance also assured to provide assistance in earlier recovery and adjustment of dues including GST refunds from Federal Board of Revenue.
It was further agreed that keeping in view the difficulties being faced by the citizen of Karachi current supply form PEPCO/NTDC shall be enhanced by 50 per from existing 200 MW to 300 MW till 31-03-2008 when KESC’s own plant shall become operational.
It was informed that despite an increasing gap of over 2000 MW between supply and demand in NTDC system additional power was being supplied to Karachi. Secretary Water and Power, Additional Secretary Finance, MD PEPCO, MD KESC and other high officials also attended the meeting from the Ministries and departments concerned.—Online
