can't restrain Parliament, says Aitzaz
ISLAMABAD—US Ambassador to Pakistan Anne W. Peterson on Tuesday met
President Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) and Central leader
Pakistan Peoples Party Aitzaz Ahsan here at his residence and discussed
issues related to overall Political situation of the country, formation
of Government and reinstatement of deposed judges in length.
Talking to media men after the meeting, the President SCBA said, Anne W.
Peterson had to come to meet him as a goodwill gesture after his release
from house detention and disused various issues including reinstatement
of deposed judges who refused to take oath under Provincial
Constitutional Ordinance (PCO), Formation of Government and Political
situation. Neither US Ambassador to Pakistan visited his house to offer
him middle way for reinstatement of deposed judges nor we would accept
any middle way in this respect, Aitzaz pointed out.
He said that she would meet him at midnight at any undisclosed location
instead of morning at his house if wanted to hold talks on secret
issues. 30 days time to new parliament for reinstatement of deposed
judges speaks that the legal fraternity want reinstatement of deposed
judges through political way, Aitzaz said. The pictures of those judges
who gives stay order against Parliament would be displayed at bar rooms
allover the country sothat every lawyer see that these were those judges
who try to create hurdle in the ways of democratic Parliament, he said.
Under Article 69 and Ahmed Syed Kirmani case, no judiciary can create
hurdle in works of the Parliament, Aitzaz told media men. We do no want
confrontation and there would be 45 others judges and 45000 drivers when
we would take deposed Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar
Muhammad Chaudhary at every bar rooms of the country after his release,
he said. He expressed thanked to civil society, traders and lawyers over
success of black flag weeks. The U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan, Anne W.
Patterson, called on the President of the Supreme Court Bar Association,
Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan, and.” “Issues involving Pakistan’s judiciary are
matters for Pakistanis to decide,” Ambassador Patterson emphasized,
while reiterating the U.S. position that “an independent judiciary is a
crucial pillar of Pakistan’s democracy, and the U.S. desire to continue
working with Pakistan “to encourage Pakistan’s continued democratic
development.”

$28 million in bilateral and multilateral program assistance to the
people of Pakistan for voter education, political party development,
computerization of the voting rolls, training et all.
Ali Ahmad Kurd, one of the most active and renowned figures of the
ongoing lawyers’ movement has cautioned the Supreme Court of any
endeavor to create hurdles in reinstatement of deposed judges. Talking
exclusively to Online after participating in a routine protest rally
held in Quetta, he warned that should any hurdle be created in
reinstatement of deposed judges, or a stay order was ever issued by a
Supreme Court rejected by the lawyers.—Agencies
