Rashid hints at forming new party

RAWALPINDI—Former Federal Minister for Railways, Sheikh Rashid Ahmad has threatened to form his own Awami Muslim League if the top PML-Q leader did not change its attitude. While talking at news briefing here in Lal Haveli on Tuesday, Sheikh Rashid said that he was contemplating to form his own party and an announcement regarding that would be announced from 23rd March to 30th April, while he was closely reviewing the situation and seeking counsel from his aides.
Sheikh Rashid Ahmad expressed his surprise at what happened to him in the 18th February elections, as being totally beyond his comprehension. “But I have embraced by my defeat without any hesitation, “ he added. He termed Makhdoom Javed Hashmi as his close friend and said that he should re-think his decision to quit the NA-55 constituency, since the masses of NA-55 have comparatively voted more for him, than his Multan constituency.
Sheikh Rashid also expressed his fear and deep reservations that most of the government offices were being allocated to NAB indicted people, while those who ran the movement for delivering masses from all evils were acting the role of godots. “The entire nation is concerned about no delivery of looted assets from Switzerland and no apologies rendered by the wrong doers. It is unfortunate for the nation that they are once again going to be ruled by the same corrupt leaders for the third time”, Sheikh Rashid added. He also stressed on the fulfillment of the promises of reinstatement of deposed judges, independence of judiciary and freedom of the media, which they have been promised to the masses.
Former federal minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid has said that countdown has started for the fulfillment of the promises which leaders of the winning parties have made to the nation. Talking in a TV talk show, he said it was clear that the people gave votes to the newly elected members of the parliament due to their agenda. He said both the friends (PML -N and PPP) had two-third majority in the parliament and were on the victory stand.
Responding to a question Sheikh Rashid said that the political situation in the country would become clear in next 90 to 100 days adding that the country was the supreme as the politicians come and go. President Pakistan Muslim League, Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain has observed that the coalition of Pakistan Peoples Party and PML-N is not durable and there are strong chances of its breakup in the near future.
Talking to media men before submitting nomination papers of candidates of PML-Q and its allied parties for the slot of the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker, Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain however said it is our wish that the newly elected assemblies complete its five year constitutional term.
