UNHCR centres in Pakistan to remain close on 19th
ISLAMABAD—The encashment centres for United Nation High Commissioner
Refugees (UNHCH) will remain closed in Pakistan and Afghanistan, from
March 19 to March 20, on account of the Afghan national holidays,
celebrating the birthday of the Holy Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and the
Persian New Year-Nauroz.
Returning Afghans are advised not to approach encashment centres to
claim their assistance package on these days.
The encashment centres in Afghanistan will re-open on Sunday March 23,
following the weekly work schedule, says a press release here Tuesday.
In this connection, the UNHCR Voluntary Repatriation Centre (VRC) in
Hayatabad, Peshawar, will be closed from Wednesday to Saturday and would
reopen on Sunday following the weekly work days.
The VRC in Baleli, Quetta, will not process any returns from March 18 to
21. It will resume services on March 22.
After holidays, the UNHCR-assisted voluntary repatriation of Afghans in
Pakistan will resume the normal working schedule.
The Hayatabad VRC is located behind the ‘Police Chowki’ second-turn,
Phase 5 Hayatabad, Peshawar with office working hours from 07:00 a.m. to
3:30 p.m. every day except Fridays and Saturdays. Baleli VRC in
Balochistan is located at the Quetta-Chaman road with daily working
hours from 08:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. except Thursdays and Fridays.
