Countdown for restoration of judges begins: Nawaz
ISLAMABAD—Pakistan Muslim League-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif has said that
today democracy has prevailed in the country adding that the promises
made to the nation on restoration of judges would be fulfilled “I am
feeling very happy to attend the maiden session of the first government
and would do every thing possible to come up to the expectations of the
masses”, Nawaz Sharif said while talking to reporters upon his arrival
at the Parliament House on Monday.
He said that we have always raised our voices for strengthening of
democracy, independence of judiciary and free media and we would
continue to do so. He added that PML-N parliamentarians would always
strive for solving the problems of the masses. He said that we are still
stuck to our stance of restoration of judges and would remain so and
would raise our voices in the National Assembly for the supremacy of the
democratic institutions.
Nawaz Sharif said that he and the PML-N parliamentarians would not let
the public down and they would try to come up to the expectations of the
masses and the confidence that the people of this country reposed in
them. Later while leaving the assembly after the oath taking Nawaz
Sharif talking to media men said the 30 days countdown for restoration
of judges has started from today and promise made to the nation would be
fulfilled. He said our priority is restoration of judges and this would
remain so.
He said that the previous government has left behind a legacy of
problems, inflation and hatred but we would try our ample best to rid
the nation of these problems and would devise a counter strategy with
the allied parties in this regard.
PML-N Quaid Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Monday said that the caretaker
regime has passed on all the problems to the winning parties but the
power transfer process was ‘yet to be initiated’.“The caretaker setup
which is continuation of the previous government has passed on the
issues like price hike, law and order and other ills to the winning
parties. But still they are holding the power with them and the process
of transition of power is yet to start,” said the two-time Prime
Minister of the country while talking to the media here at the
Parliament House.
Flanked by PPP Co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari and other leaders, the
upbeat Nawaz Sharif reassured the media that the new government would
fulfill the promises made to the nation. “We have promised to restore
the judiciary in the Murree Accord and no one has to repeat this demand
which we have already pledged to implement,” he said when asked when the
deposed judges would be restored.
To a question whether the PPP and the PML-N had decided their nominee
for the slot of Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif said, “Mr. Zardari is my
Prime Minister”. In response to the goodwill gesture by the PML-N
leader, Asif Zardari, like a smart politician, sharply repeated the same
words, saying,” And my Prime Minister is Mian Nawaz Sharif”.
Earlier, the PML-N Chief arrived at the Parliament House amid tight
security. Personnel of law enforcement agencies escorted the vehicle of
PML-N Quaid to the main entrance of the Parliament House where Mian Raza
Rabbani, the Opposition Leader in the Senate, with other PML-N leaders
welcomed the PML-N Chief and escorted him to the chamber of Raza Rabbani.—Online
