‘CDA should solve problems of Melody Food
Park’

ISLAMABAD—The Traders Association of Melody Food Park Monday a reception
in honour of Muhammad Ijaz Abbasi, President Islamabad Chamber of
Commerce & Industry and Khalid Javed, newly elected Chairman of Founder
Group ICCI.
Speaking at this occasion, Muhammad Ijaz Abbasi, President Islamabad
Chamber of Commerce & Industry said that Melody Food Park is one of the
unique projects in Islamabad, which was successfully completed with the
participation of general public and CDA.
He said that every one on the visit to Islamabad used to enjoy in the
Melody Food Park but for the last few years situation has completely
changed.
He said that due to the incidents of Lal Mosque in July 2007, business
in Melody Food Park and adjoining markets have badly affected and the
current law and order situation in the country has put further negative
impact on the business activities here.
He demanded that CDA should address the problems of the Melody Food Park
on priority basis because this park has lot of problems with the CDA
department. Mr.Muhammad Ijaz Abbasi suggested that picnic points at
various places in Islamabad should be created by allowing local people
to establish restaurants.
He said that CDA has allotted plots to undeserving people and urged CDA
to include stall holders of Melody Food Park in the all new allotments
and arrangements should also be made to shift Melody Food Park to some
other place.
President ICCI said that shop keepers have complaints from policemen of
Abpara Police station because they used to interfere in the affairs of
Melody Food Street.
He said such interferences are putting bad affects on the businesses and
demanded to Mr.Kaleem Imam, S.S.P. Islamabad to intervene for stopping
intervention of police in the affairs of Melody Food Park. He said that
reconciliation committees should be reconstituted and new convineers
shall be appointed.
Sarfaraz Haider President Traders Welfare Association, Melody Food Park
in his address said that Islamabad Chamber had played an important role
in the establishment of Food Park. He hoped that Islamabad Chamber will
support for addressing the problems and shifting the Melody Food Park to
some other appropriate place.
He demanded that traders who were affected due to Lal Mosque incident
should be compensated for the loss they suffered. Mr.Khalid Javed, new
elected Chairman of Founder Group assured that Chamber will keep playing
its role for resolving the problems of the traders and industrialists.
Mr.Munawar Moughal, Chairman Liaison office of the Federation of
Pakistan Chamber of Commerce & Industry said that with unity among the
traders, problems relating to CDA could be solved.
He said that some officers in CDA are creating problems for the trading
community and demanded for promulgation of justified Rent Control Act in
Islamabad.
