PC-1 approved to re-build demolished mosques

ISLAMABAD—The Capital Development Authority would reconstruct the
demolished mosques against the cost of Rs 38.7 million and a PC-1 of the
project has already been approved.
Chairing the Central Development Working Party, the Authority Chairman
Kamran Lashari said the authority will reconstruct new and planned
mosques at alternative sites in the federal capital.
The meeting was also attended by Member Planning & Design Brig.
Nusratullah, Member Estate Brig (Retd.) Asad Munir, Member Engineering
Main Moin-ud-Din Kakakhel, D.G (Works), Director Land, Director Urban
Planning and Director Sector Development.
The official said some mosques were constructed at various locations
without the approval of the CDA and were also hurdle in the way of
developmental projects.
“The citizens of different sectors had also lodged complaints against
these mosques constructed without approved planning,” he said.
The CDWP meeting approved the PC-I of the project and decided that these
mosques will be reconstructed at alternative site in phases with latest
facilities at the total cost of Rs. 38.779 million.
In the first phase, the civic body would reconstruct Masjid Al-Safa at a
cost of Rs. 10.149 million, Masjid Ameer Hamza costing Rs. 10.523, a
mosque at Mauve Area at a cost of Rs. 12.552 million and the
reconstruction of Masjid Ibn-e-Abbas would cost Rs. 12.787 million.
Kamran Lashari advised that pace of work on reconstruction of these
mosques should be accelerated so that the second phase might also be
started timely.
He said CDA has already allocated sites for mosques in the newly planned
sectors of Islamabad to avoid ill-planned and unauthorized construction
of mosques.
Kamran Lashari directed Director Urban Planning and Director Sector
Development to demarcate places for construction of more mosques within
the stipulated time.
He said that some officers in CDA are creating problems for the trading
community and demanded for promulgation of justified Rent Control Act in
Islamabad. |
