Minorities representation in Parliament
urged
ISLAMABAD—The members of Christian community have urged the newly
elected members of the Parliament to organise census and increase their
representation in parliament.
These views were expressed by Naila J. Dayal, Chairperson, Christian
Progressive Movement in a message received here today.
“In previous and recent elections, 75 per cent Christians were deprived
of their right to vote due to incomplete census”. The members of
community have urged the government to increase seats of christian
community in Parliament as well as they must be given representation in
Senate.
Christian community has awareness to elect their representatives, she
said adding they should not be nominated by others. Christians comprised
more than Two crore population must be acknowledged to provide them
chance to work for the development of the country.
