Lawyers may
give up their movement, says Aitzaz
ISLAMABAD—President Supreme Court Bar Association, Aitzaz Ahsan has said
that if President has been managed to win two third majority of the both
of the Parliament House then lawyers would also given up their struggle.
He expressed theses views while speaking in a seminar on “Constitutional
position of Judiciary” organized by Supreme Court Bar Association here
on Sunday. Former Justice (r) Saeed uz Zaman Siddiqui, Justice (r)
Fakhar ud Din Ghee Ibrahim, Justice (r) Javed Iqbal also addressed on
the occasion.
In their address they said that if Speaker of the National Assembly
simply speaks at NA floor that the real constitution is that of before
02nd November then no force could stop the judges to reinstate the
ousted judges. They also strongly condemned the house arrest of more
than 60 deposed judges including their innocent children.
Justice (r) Fakhar ud Din in his address said that he honored the army,
however, he can’t see army in power as article 45 of the constitution
preventa Army to attain the power rather to safeguard the borders.
President Supreme Court Bar Association Munir A Malik has said that
there is no need of any resolution or two third majority from the
Parliament House, however they can be reinstated simply through
administrative orders.
The Pakistan Bar Council in its meeting on Sunday resolved to re-affirm
its Resolution passed in its meeting held at Peshawar on 13th January,
2008 and affirmed in its meeting held on 2nd February, 2008 at Lahore.
The Council also resolves to welcome the Murree Declaration signed by
two major political parties pledging thereby to restore the superior
judiciary to the position of 2nd November, 2007 and hope and expect that
both the political parties who are signatory to the Declaration will
hnnour their pledge within 30 days of formation of the Government.
However, if the Murree Declaration is subverted the legal fraternity
will respond, with unity, to re-enforce its movement of protest and
agitation for restoration of the Judiciary.
The Council also resolves to condemn the continued detention of the
Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justsice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and
other judges of the Surpeme Court with their families and demand for
their forthwith release.
The Pakistan Bar Council further resovles that a call of protest of
lawyers at the national level by a Bar Association will be made with
approval of the Pakistan Bar Council.
President Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan
has said the future of Pakistani nation and coming generations lies in
restoration of judges. He expressed these views while speaking at a
‘black flag week’ ceremony organized by Quami Tajir Ittehad (QTI) at
Liberty Market here on Sunday.
President (QTI) Irfan Iqbal Sheikh, MNA-elect Omer Sohail Butt, MPA-elect
Dr Saeed Elahi and other leaders also spoke on the occasion. Aitzaz said
that the lawyers community would continue its struggle till achieving
the task.
He said that the days are not far away when Justice Iftikhar Ch. and
other deposed judges would be sitting in their offices. Quami Tajir
Ittehad President praised the lawyers community for its untiring efforts
and said that they had been struggling for judiciary at the cost of
their own livelihood for the last one year.He also lauded the political
leaders including Sharif family for their role in this regard.
