IHC decides 263 cases during last three-week

ISLAMABAD—Islamabad High Court (IHC) has decided 263 cases during the last three-week after formally starting hearing of hundreds of cases on February 21. A total of 263 cases were disposed of while 294 new ones were instituted for hearing.
Among the decided ones, 62 belonged to bail matters, 70 writ petitions, 42 related to death sentences and 44 others to civil matters. About 9,000 cases had been transferred to IHC from Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi branch and Civil courts.
Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court (IHC) Sardar Mohmmad Aslam has constituted five Single benches and three Division benches for the next week, starting from March 17 (Monday) for the hearing of hundreds of cases at Islamabad. Five single benches include Chief Justice Sardar Mohammad Aslam, Justice Mohammad Munir Paracha, Justice Dr Sajid Qureshi, Justice Syed Qalb e Hassan and Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan.
The first Division bench (DB) comprising Chief Justice Sardar Mohammad Aslam and Justice Mohammad Munir Paracha will assemble at 9:30am while second DB, comprising Chief Justice Sardar Mohammad Aslam and Justice Syed Qalbe Hassan, would start its proceedings at 11:00 am. The third DB, comprising Justice Munir Paracha and Justice Syed Qalb e Hassan will also hear cases relating to writ petitions about elections.
