HEC organizes research methodology course

ISLAMABAD—A six-day course on Research Methodology organized by the
English Language Teaching Reforms (ELTR) Project of Higher Education
Commission concluded at National University of Computer and Emerging
Sciences, Peshawar Campus.
Issues related to Research Methodology and Publications were addressed
by experts in the field. The course highlighted the importance of
research in higher educational institutions, faculty development and
promotion of quality education in public sector colleges and
universities. A total of 33 participants attended the course which
included 23 nominees of the Directorate of Higher Education, Government
of NWFP and 10 nominees of four universities.
The resource persons for the course included Prof. Chand Rahman, Dr.
Farooq Ahmad, Dr. Ghayas ul Haq and Dr. Amjad Hussain Shah, all from
FAST-Peshawar, Prof. Khadim Hussain, Bahria University, Islamabad, Prof.
Nasreen Ahsan, NED Karachi, and Mr. Bashir Khan Khattak, Statistical
Analyst, ELTR Project HEC.
The contents of the Course included Finding a Research Topic, Role of
Computers in Research, Writing Research Grant Proposals, Research
Methods for Social Sciences, Plagiarism, Why and Where to Publish,
Research Ethics, Scientific, Report Writing, Editing and Proof Reading
of Research Work, Data Collection and Data Analysis, Research Design,
Analyzing Abstracts and Data Collection Tool, Using Online Resources for
Research, Sharing and discussing Case Studies, Action Research,
Introduction to Documenting Research and Using Statistical Package for
Social Sciences (SPSS) in Research.
Dr. Syed Amjad Hussain Shah, Director FAST-NU, Peshawar was Chief Guest
in the concluding ceremony. Mr. Farmanullah Anjum, Regional Director,
HEC Peshawar was also present. In his remarks Dr. Amjad praised the
efforts made by HEC in promoting higher education in Pakistan. He
thanked ELTR Project for holding the course on research at FAST-NU
Peshawar.
Mr. Bashir Khan, Course Coordinator said that HEC has launched a major
project of English Language Teaching Reforms to bring qualitative
improvement in English Language Teaching and learning in order to build
capacity for effective and sustainable development of English language
teachers in the higher education in Pakistan. |
