India to build canal on Ravi River

CHANDIGARH—Indian government has, lately approved construction of a Ravi Base Canal, which might deprive Pakistan from redeeming waters of River Ravi.
According to an Indian news agency Minister of Irrigation Captain Ajay Singh appreciated federal government’s mega projects and revealed that an amount of more than Rs. fifty three billion rupees would be invested in the projects.
He said, that earlier (Indian) army had informed authorities that Pakistan was benefiting from a huge flow of water. While the provincial government of Indian Punjab strongly disapproved this logic of state of Haryana as illogical and not based on ground realities. While strongly opposing the Indian federal government’s endeavor to install gauge to block the flow, the minister of irrigation suggested that a link canal would be the most feasible alternate to provide quite a massive amount of water for everyone.—Agencies
