Premiership is PPPP’s right, says Asfandyar

ISLAMABAD—ANP chief Asfandyar Wali Khan has said premiership is PPP right and his party’s stance is already very clear on this count.
“It is settled matter premiership is PPP’s right. ANP has already a clear stance on this issue. We are concerned with political party and not an individual. Whomsoever party wants may nominate prime minister”, he said this while talking to the journalists here Thursday after his meeting with PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari. About president Musharraf impeachment he told no such proposal came under discussion during the meeting with Asif Ali Zardari.
Term power sharing is wrongly used, he said adding, “ We have no eagerness for it”. We all will have to work together to steer the country out of critical phase it was passing through. The joint committee constituted by PPP, PML-N and ANP will decide about the matters related to allocation of ministries.
He told he had never interfered in the distribution of ministries at provincial level. ANP provincial leadership will take any decision about it today, he added. This committee will also decide about PML-N joining NWFP government, he indicated.
Central leader of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Chaudhary Nisar has assured that there would be no confrontation between establishment and Parliament while Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and PML-N have decided to restrict the new cabinet members to small numbers.
Talking to media men outside the Parliament house after meeting of PPP and PML-N with regard to distribution of ministries, he said, PML-N would support the nominated candidate of PPP for the slot of Premiership. Syed Khurshid Shah, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Mian Raza Rabbani, Naveed Qamar, Sheri Rehman, Farooq H. Niak led the PPP while Khawaja Asif, Chaudhary Nisar and Ishaq Dar led PML-N during the meeting.
The final name of new cabinet members would be announced leaders of both parties soon he said, adding that, the first priority of PML-N is reinstatement of deposed judges who refused to take oath under Provincial Constitutional Ordinance (PCO).
The meeting in which formula for distribution of ministries, assembly business, formation of Government and independence of judiciary discussed ended with positive outcome.
Answering to a question, Chaudhary Nisar said, PML-N would fully support PPP’s candidate for slot of Premiership. When asked about clash between Amin Fahim and Khawaja Asif, he said, there is no clash between them. We would introduce real and genuine democracy in the country while negotiations for formation of Government is underway and there is complete harmony between Political parties, he maintained.
President Pervez Musharraf, he said, has no legal and unconstitutional status. Neither there would be any clash between establishment and Parliament nor it (Establishment) can create rift between PPP and PML, he pointed out.
The foreign media is trying its level best to create differences between PPP and PML-N but we will foil the negative agenda of foreign media, he vowed.
Chaudhary Nisar said that unemployment and inflation are soaring day by day while PML-N would solve such type of problem including independence of judiciary on priority basis.
Meanwhile, Information Secretary PPPP Sherry Rehman and Central leader Syed Naveed Qamar told media men outside the Parliament house said that the talks between allied Partners were held in very cordial environment.
The leaders of both parties have agreed to continue negotiation, Naveed Qamar said, adding that, the issue regarding reinstatement of deposed judges was not came under discussion in today’s meeting.
We will have to chalk out joint strategy to redress the problem being faced the citizens of the county while all issues with regard to distribution of ministries and other posts would be salted amicably, he said., During the meeting, it was decided that all the issues would be finalized till March 17, he concluded.
