India plans wargames near Pak border

NEW DELHI—India will hold military exercises just sixty km from Pakistan border in Rajasthan. Apart from Pakistan, at least 94 military attaches from 60 nations including China, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, US, UK, France and Germany have been invited to witness a day long Army-Air Force exercise codenamed ‘Blazing Chariots’ in the Thar Desert of Rajasthan on March 19, Indian military officials told reporters here on Thursday.
For the first time, Muslim countries like Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, Oman and others would be sending strong delegations to witness the military show. Mirages and Sukhoi’s, Main Battle Tank T-90, the army latest acquisition -the SMERCH Multi Barrel Rocket Launchers - capable of firing nuclear and conventional warheads over a distance of 60 km would participate in a 100 km radius around Jaisalmer-Pokhran, just 60 km away from the Pakistani border, officials added.—Agencies
