NHA approves Rs18b Hasanabdal, Mansehra expressway

ISLAMABAD—National Highway Authority’s Executive Board on Wednesday approved the alignment of Rs 18 billion Hassanabdal-Mansehra Expressway project which would be completed in four years period.
The meeting was chaired by Chairman NHA Maj Gen Imtiaz Ahmed. Speaking on the occasion the NHA Chairman said that “the new expressway would form an important part of National Trade Corridor (NTC).He said that 100 kilometer expressway would reach Mansehra via Abbotabad.He said that the project would have nine inter- changes,40 bridges and 30 underpasses. He told the executive board that the upgradation project of the Raikot-Khunjerab section Karakoram Highway (N-35) is already underway.
The board was also informed that Islamabad-Murree expressway project would be completed in two phases.The Chairman said that 33-km section of the project would be opened for traffic nextmonth while its second phase would be completed by June this year.
The meeting also examined the progress on additional works of Khajuri-Waigum Rud section of Qilla-Saifullah-D.G.Khan-Multan (N-70) project and D.I. Khan-Mughalkot section of N-50. Maj Gen Imtiaz said that the NHA was paying specialattention on early completion of Balochistan road projects.He said that N-70 was an important link between the Punjab and Balochistanand it was being upgraded on priority basis.
