Clashes in Nawagai claim 11 lives

MEHMAND AGENCY—Eleven people including Women and children were killed and 25 sustained injures in clashes between the Security Forces and the militants in Nawagai bazaar in Mehmand Agency. According to details, the firing was started on Tuesday night after a bomb blast in which two FC Officials were injured.
The eyewitnesses in Bajaur Agency, however, have said that three officials of Bajaur Scouts were injured in a remote control bomb attack in Tehsil Nawagai. Some sources said that one security official was killed in the incident, however, it was not confirmed on official level.
The local people have said that after the blast, the Security Officials deputed on the mountains in Tehsil Nawagai have started aerial firing aimed to avert more attacks while the artillery was also used form Khar. Another eyewitness while talking to BBC informed that during the firing, rockets were fired from unknown place on the scouts and after that the security officials engaged heavy shelling with automatic weapons on Nawagai bazaar.—Agencies
