BOMBAY—Post her win in UK’s ‘Big Brother’, Shilpa has been inaccessible for quite a while in India now. Recently, she even rejected the offer by Karan Johar for a special appearance in his upcoming yet untitled project. But what’s the latest buzz about her; let’s check out. Shilpa Shetty is busy earning bundles of pounds, na! Anyway, another person who seems to have ‘cashed in’ on an opportunity is Brit writer Julie Aspinall who came out with an “unauthorized” biography of the once-upon-a-time ‘Big Brother’ winner. That was a smart move, Julie and we’re sure the act has sown the seed for yet another business plan/strategy in the Sexy Shetty’s mind - an autobiography! Phew, wonder, if Shilps would ever return to Mumbai. But then right now, she ought to make most of her ‘raj’ in the UK, na? We don’t blame her!
However, Shilpa Shetty’s publicist Dale Bhagwagar has profusely denied the news of her biography. He says that the biography is “unauthorized” inasmuch as the so called biography comprises nothing excepting few interviews published in certain newspapers and magazines of her participation in the ‘Big Brother’ show in the UK. Moreover, this cannot be called biography as most of the material published in the “biography” is about the affair between her and Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar only. Dale calls this “unauthorized biography” , which is doing roaring business in Britain and has hit Indian shores recently. This is actually an unauthorized book. “Shilpa has not spoken about her life to its author Julie Aspinall,”
Bhagwagar reveals and adds, the “Life In A... Metro” star’s quotes used in the “Shilpa: The Biography” are borrowed from various magazine and television interviews. Also, the book is incorrectly termed “biography” as it misses out chronicling most aspects of her life and career, except for giving liberal accounts of her past relationship with Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, who co-starred with her in hits like ‘Khiladi’ and ‘Dhadkan’ and her participation in Britain’s reality show Celebrity ‘Big Brother’, which she won.”
When asked if Shilpa would write her biography in the near future, her publicist kept mum but added, “Since last year, a new exciting phase has materialized for brand Shilpa Shetty. The market is huge and spread over countries, but Shilpa has many more miles to cover before picking up the pen.” Regarding her new projects, he said, “She is concentrating on selecting her next character from varied scripts she has been receiving almost every week.” This is to recall that Shilpa was last seen in two hits ‘Apne’ and ‘Life in a... Metro’ in 2007. Then, she toured Europe with her musical play “Miss Bollywood”. At present, she is working in the Sunny Deol starrer ‘The Man’, Dale informed.
