City’s Chief orders crackdown against profiteers

ISLAMABAD—Deputy Commissioner, Islamabad Amer Ali Ahmed on Monday said that artificial price hike will not be allowed and strict action will be taken against the profiteers.
He expressed these views in a meeting held to review the prices of essential commodities including fruits and vegetables. The meeting was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, (G) Islamabad Rana Akbar Hayat, Assistant Commissioners, Magistrates, District Food Controller, I.C.T. Muhammad Afzal and inspectors of CDA weekly bazars.
The meeting reviewed the prices of food items in the wake of increase in the prices of petroleum and decided to further intensify the anti-profiteering drive in Islamabad. Deputy Commissioner, Islamabad directed the price Magistrates to ensure the availability of food items at the control rates, particularly at the weekly bazars. He directed that prices should remain within the reach of common man.
He directed the Magistrates to ensure the display of rate list of food items particularly at the weekly bazars and price checking should be intensified to curb the profiteering tendency.
District Food Controller, Islamabad informed that whole sale and retail rates of fruits and vegetables are being monitored on daily basis and rate list is being issued fixing profit for retailers on daily basis.
