35 arrested for power theft

NOWSHERAN VIRKAN—A raiding team of GEPCO arrested 35 persons on the charges of power pilferage, while Rs 200,000, the cost of some 50,000 units, were recovered through detection bills issued to these persons. Official sources told APP here Monday that the trend of power theft is quite high in the rural areas of the district which keeps GEPCO teams busy the year round. Meanwhile, locals here have expressed apprehension as new gas connections are not being given in the tehsil Nowsheran Virkan. MPA-elect Ch. Khalid Pervez Virk has appealed on the behalf of the communities here that the matter may be addressed at the earliest.—APP
