Fate of new Assemblies linked to deposed judges: Aitzaz

LAHORE—President Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Aitzaz Ahsan has warned parliament will not be able to complete 5 years tenure if judges are not reinstated.
Parliament will not be able to function without independent judiciary, if judiciary is reinstated then parliament will complete its 5 years term”Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan said this while addressing lawyers here Sunday.
After keeping the chief justice hostage, he is being pressurized to resign, Aitzaz alleged. . “Bur he will not resign at all”, Aitzaz added. Holding them hostage is an offence, he maintained.
All the hurdles created for judiciary and parliament are illegal and unconstitutional, he underlined. “ We will not accept them”, he announced and said categorically that we want sovereign parliament beside independent judiciary
Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry is still chief justice of Pakistan”, he reiterated. Two thirds majority of parliament is not needed for restoration of judges, he held.
Chief Justice and other judges have been held hostage for the last four months, he said adding residences of the judges have been turned into private jails by the rulers.” We used to read that g the Government had unearthed private jail and freed innocent citizens who were kept prisoners therein. It is strange to note as to why the human rights organizations and government can not see the private jails in Islamabad, Lahore and Quetta where the deposed judges are kept, he questioned.
President Supreme Court Bar Association Aitezaz Ahsan said that after the restoration of the judges, only the independent judiciary can protect the parliament.
Addressing the press conference at the Punjab Bar Council Lahore, he said that like the parliament, judiciary is also the obligation of the people and it takes care of the people’s rights.
He said that the parliament cannot complete five years without an independent judiciary and if justice is not given then the rights of the people would be lapsed.
Aitezaz Ahsan said that do the organizations of human rights not look upon the detention of the judges and when they would take out processions against their detention.
He said that the Black Flag Week is actually a warm up week of the lawyers. Sovereign parliament and independent judiciary are inevitable for the protection of rights of common man.

He said fall of justice and inequality in the country would result in elimination of basic liberties and roll back of democracy. Aitzaz Ahsan also highlighted the difficulties faced by Justice Iftikhar Chaudhary,other judges and their families after the November 3 action. He said Black Flag Week was actually a warm up by lawyer community.
