seal landmark accord to form Govt
Agree to restore
deposed judges through Parliament — promise amendments in media laws

MURREE—PPP and PML-N through a joint declaration have said that all the
deposed judges will be reinstated through a parliamentary resolution
within first 30 days of power sharing.
The PML-N will fully support PPP nominee for prime minister ship in
centre while speaker and deputy speaker of national assembly will be
taken from PPP and speakership and deputy speakership of Punjab assembly
will go to PML-N, declaration added. PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari
and PML-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif were addressing a joint press
conference after their one on one meeting. PPP side comprised senator
Raza Rabbani, Sherry Rehman, Khurshid Shah, Senator Farooq H Naik, Raja
Pervez Ashraf, Syed Naveed Qamar, Fahmeeda Mirza while PML-N was
represented by Mian Shahbaz Sharif, Raja Zafar ul Haq, Iqbal Zafar
Jhagra, Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Senator Ishaq
Dar, Khawaja Asif and others.
Mian Nawaz Sharif said the charter of democracy which was jointly signed
by him and Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto now looked to be nearing realization.
The charter of democracy if implemented will change the destiny of 160
million people of the country. The mandate given by the people on
February, 18 proved that they had rejected the cronies of President
Musharraf,he added. President Musharraf was under delusion that hung
parliament had come into existence, he said Musharraf should not remain
under this delusion as “we will remove his delusion. Dictatorship should
accept people verdict and he should not try to sabotage people mandate.
He held it was March, 9 when chief justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad
Chaudhry was removed from his office and it is March, 9 “we are issuing
joint declaration that we will cooperate each other for restoration of
democracy and no compromise will be made on the issue of reinstatement
of judges. Responding to a question he said Pervez Musharraf had claimed
the national kitty was filled and country’s economy had grown robust. “I
want to ask him where are those national exchequers which had been
filled where stands that economy which had been strengthened. Burden of
debts had increased. They are handing over such Pakistan to us where
atta is not even available to the masses and unemployment and inflation
had made the life of people miserable.
On 2002 general elections former ISI chief Gen (Retd) Ehtesham Zameer
had made stunning revelations, Nawaz Sharif underlined. Both the leaders
said in the joint declaration that PPP and PML-N will resolve the matter
of reinstatement of deposed judges through a parliamentary resolution.
PML-N will get its share in federal cabinet and PPP will be given share
in Punjab cabinet. Asif Zardari said “ we want political stability in
the country and we will have to play our role for a longer period. “We
are facing internal and external threats and we will have to counter
them jointly. We will restore democracy in letter and spirit.
Aiwan-e-Sadr and Prime Minister House will not interfere in each other
affairs . Comprehensive policy will have to be pursued with reference to
terrorism and foreign affairs , he stressed. We have in place
parliamentary system rather than presidential system.
Asif Zardari said matter of release of Dr A Q Khan should be raised with
the present government. Pervez Musharraf should realize the concern of
people and it will be better for him if he realizes this concern as soon
as possible “We are heading towards transfer of power. We will hold
judicial inquiry into May, 12 and Nishtar Park incidents and will take
action against those who are found responsible”, he announced. |
