Pakistan consulate in Rio de Janeiro inaugurated

ISLAMABAD—Pakistan’s first Honorary Consulate in Rio de Janeiro was formally inaugurated on February 5, in a ceremony held in the Rio de Janeiro Chambers of Commerce. The Ceremony commenced with the playing of national anthems of Pakistan and Brazil following which the Ambassador of Pakistan to Brazil Muhammad Haroon Shaukat presented nomination papers and the flag of Pakistan to the Honorary Consul, Marco Polo Moreira Leite, who is an eminent businessman and the president of the foreign Trade Council of the Rio de Janeiro Chambers of Commerce. Marcilio Marques Moreira, a former foreign Minister and finance Minister who also served as the Ambassador of Brazil to the USA made welcome remarks after which the Ambassador of Pakistan addressed a getting of prominent business persons of Rio de Janeiro.
