Three member IFJ delegation impart training to journalists

ISLAMABAD—Three member delegation of International Federation of
Journalists (IJF) led by its General Secretary Aidan White will arrive
here on March 13 for a five day visit to Pakistan.
Besides meeting government officials, the members of the delegation will
have also interaction with representatives of journalists and civil
society for drafting a code of ethics for the print and electronic media
here.The members of the delegation will interact with the
representatives of various organizations of media at a meeting being
held at local hotel on March 15. The IFJ delegation comprises a trainer,
who will impart training to a select group of journalists on various
subjects including the element of security for working journalists.
The two day training is being organized by Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of
Journalists from March 19-20 with the cooperation of Pakistan Federal
Union of Journalists and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Journalists from all over the country, representing different print and
electronic media, will participate in the two-day training workshop.
Journalist community will express solidarity with lawyers for the
supremacy and independence of judiciary and observe Black Day on March
10. Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalist (RIUJ), on the call of
Pakistan Federal Union of Journalist (PFUJ), on Friday decided to
observe “Black Day” on March 10 to express solidarity with lawyers
community.
A meeting of RIUJ was held here under the chairmanship of its President
Afzal Butt also decided to organize a seminar on March 11 which will be
addressed by President Supreme Court Bar Association Aitzaz Ahsan and
other leaders of lawyers and journalist community. |
