Ample chances of investment between Pakistan, Greece: Ijaz

ISLAMABAD—H.E. Mr. Petros Mavroidis Ambassador of Greece visited Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry and called on Muhammad Ijaz Abbasi President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry . Talking to the Ambassador Ijaz Abbasi said that Pakistan and Greece are enjoying cordial relations and have historical bonds of trade and economic relations, but volume of trade between both the countries is very low. He further said that Pakistan is holding Ministerial meeting in 2008 for enhancement of trade between Pakistan and Greece . The businessmen from Greece will attend this meeting. He said that Greece can invest in marble, telecommunication, information technology, real estate, energy, agriculture, construction and ship-building sector.
President ICCI Ijaz Abbasi said that Pakistani community is the second largest in Greece and numbering 75000 and they are engaged in different sectors. He told the Ambassador to convince the businessmen of Greece to invest in Pakistan to strengthen the trade relations between both the countries, because there are ample chances of investment in Pakistan . Muhammad Ijaz Abbasi said that Pakistan is facing energy crises and there is short fall of about 2000 mega watt. He said that to overcome shortage of energy Greece should help Pakistan . Muhammad Ijaz Abbasi President ICCI said that Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry has planned to construct Export Display Centre for trade promotion in which Pakistani manufactured products would be displayed. He further said that with the exchange of trade delegations and exhibition trade relations would be strengthened between both the countries. He further said that a trade delegation of Islamabad Chamber will visit Greece .
H.E. Mr. Petors Mavroidis Ambassador of Greece said that political environment in Greece and Pakistan are same, media in foreign countries is not giving true picture of Pakistan . He said that investment in Pakistan is safe and that Government is doing a lot to protect the foreign investment. He further said that Greece is importing cotton, carpets, shoes from Pakistan . H.E. Mr. Petors Mavroidis Ambassador of Greece said that Greece hold exhibition every September and various products of Greece are exhibited. He suggested that Pakistan businessmen should visit Greece Industrial City and also participle in the exhibition.
