No decision yet to re-join CW: FO

ISLAMABAD—“Pakistan on Wednesday called the Dutch Ambassador to the Foreign Office and a demarche was made on the issue of blasphemous Danish cartoons,” said Foreign Office Spokesman Muhammad Sadiq in his weekly briefing here. He said the matter would also be on the agenda of the forthcoming OIC summit in Senegal.
Replying to a question he said that no decision has yet been made as to who will lead Pakistan’s delegation at the OIC summit but added that Foreign Minister Inamul Haq would be attending the moot. On the question of re-joining to Commonwealth, the spokesman said, British Prime Minister has suggested President Musharraf that Pakistan should rejoin activities of the Commonwealth but the Government has not taken any decision as yet. Muhammad Sadiq said Pakistan-Iran bus service would commence in next few weeks. A private Pakistani transport company was interested to run the service between Quetta-Zahidan and Mashhad, he added. About Pakistani prisoners at the Guantanamo bay, he said, their number is less than half a dozen and others have already been released.
Asked about release of Indian prisoner Kashmir Singh, he said, he was released purely on humanitarian considerations. He, however, said there were 450 Pakistani prisoners in Indian jails and expressed the hope that those who have served their sentences would be released soon.
The spokesman for Foreign Office, Muhammad Sadiq has strongly condemned the statement of Dutch senator regarding blasphemous cartoons of The Holy Prophet (PBUH), and while registering his protest, has said that Muslims worldwide were hurt and angry at this blasphemy.
While addressing the weekly briefing at Foreign Office, he cautioned about such poisonous and heinous acts of blasphemy against Muslims, which would widen the rift between religions and, encourage the much feared and disliked clash of civilizations.
He informed that government had summoned the Dutch ambassador in Foreign Office and launched a strong protest regarding the issue, while official protests have also been mailed to Brussels, Copenhagen, and other countries, with emphasis on strong punishment for persons who have perpetuated this shameful blasphemy.
The spokesman also condemned the latest Israeli aggression against Palestine, and has demanded immediate cessation of Israeli aggression in the region. The spokesman also announced that Pakistan supported the peaceful nuclear program of Iran, as its legitimate right and stressed on peaceful means to settle this dispute between Iran and IAEA, while hoping that Iran would abide by reservations of NPT (nuclear proliferation treaty).
