Aitzaz says compromise on judges restoration rejected
Bureau Report

KARACHI—President Supreme Court Bar Association Aitzaz Ahsan has said people have badly rejected president Musharraf and he now stands at exit door. “President Musharraf has been flatly rejected by the people and he is standing on exit door . Despite this fact US and UK are out to support him. But people are very conscious and they are keeping their eyes open”, he said this while addressing general bodies of Karachi Bar Association and Sindh Bar Association separately.
“When I was kept under detention, some people came up to me and told that government was ready to reinstate all deposed judges barring 4 deposed judges including chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. But I flatly refused to accept their offer. Then they extended offer to reinstate all the judges except Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. But I replied restoration of chief justice is real issue”, he pointed out.
Musharraf targeted judiciary on March, 9, 2007 but 13 judges of Supreme Court gave verdict in favor of judiciary, he said adding “ we derived this perception out of this verdict that judiciary was now free but a dictator again stabbed into the back of judiciary on November, 3. This is unprecedented in the history of the world that 60 judges were deposed simultaneously.
He held that President Musharraf and Muhammamian Soomro and Shaukat Aziz will be convicted this year. This is extreme of tyrannical order that five person were kept under illegal detention in Judges Colony Islamabad. They include chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and his three children. This part of residence has been declared jail, he told. On the other side of this colony PCO chief justice and judges are settled but no one has enough courage to take any action in this respect, he regretted. He reiterated black flag week would be observed on March 9-16. Maximum number of black flags will be hoisted on this day, he added.
