Divisional lawyers convention tomorrow

RAWALPINDI—The re-elected president of High Court Bar Association,
Sardar Asmatullah has said that divisional lawyers convention would be
held tomorrow (Thursday) which among other things would also aim at
seeking and announcing the annulment of scheduled long march, in order
to facilitate newly elected legislators to reinstate judiciary, and form
a new government with ease.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday at Rawalpindi Press Club, he
cited charging President Musharraf of such unconstitutional crimes as
continuous barrage of insults hurled at Judiciary since 09 Nov 2007,
brutalities against lawyers, and other charges. He also announced
according a warm welcome to Barrister Aitazaz Ahsan, after his scheduled
arrival in Islamabad on Tuesday at 1600 hrs, and hosting of a divisional
lawyers convention tomorrow, Thursday, which would also be participated
by elected parliamentarians, alongwith office bearers of students’,
traders’ and other citizen organizations, which among other things also
aim at seeking and announcing the annulment of scheduled long march, in
order to facilitate newly elected legislators to reinstate judiciary,
and form a new government with ease.
He also vowed to continue the struggle for release of all house-arrested
judges and their families, expressing it as the legitimate right of
lawyers’ community aided by masses, berating President Musharraf for his
continued despotism and about agencies running amok, creating illegal
terror, chaos and fear among masses.
He also urged media to mobilize masses for their full participation in
the forthcoming lawyers’ convention, urging all masses to hoist black
protest flags and banners over their homes and shops. He also scoffed at
the government’s recent release of imprisoned Indian spy Kashmir Singh,
who had been given a full protocol, while turning a blind eye to
imprisoned judiciary members, along with their innocent family members.
He also chided the government for blackmailing and harassing media
through PEMRA, and vowed to help media out of this mess as soon as
possible. |
