biggest ever war games
NEW DELHI—India will hold its biggest ever Army-Air Force exercise close
to Pakistan border in Thar desert of Rajasthan beginning from March 15.
The 10-day war-games will involve India’s advanced military machines
like Mirage and Sukhois and T-90 tanks, a defence spokesman said here on
Monday.
“The exercise, codenamed Dakshin Shakti, would be one of the largest
exercises undertaken by the Indian Armed Forces in recent times,” he
said.
The forces will test its newly acquired military hardware like advanced
UAVs, long range multi barrel SMERCH rocket launchers and state of art
communication, detection and battle command post equipment.
The army’s formations would go through the full spectrum of stimulated
operations in the desert terrain. Swift mechanised manoeuvres with
airborne and heliborne troops are also likely to be practiced, he said.—Agenciesip, especially
