Theater festival to highlight women
issues
ISLAMABAD—A theater festival is being organized here from March 4 to 6
to observe International Women Day for highlighting various issues
regarding women rights. The festival is jointly organized by PATTAN Lok
Natak and Rawalpindi Arts Council while famous theater groups of Lahore,
Faisalabad, Multan and Islamabad will present their plays regarding
women issues, says a statement issued here Monday.
PATTAN, a local civil society organization aims at
mainstreamingmarginalized and isolated communities, groups and women
into political and economic decision-making processes at all levels
through mobilization, networking, capacity building and advocacy for
structural and policy change. The festival would be based on the theme
“Empowered Women Essential to Sustainable Democracy,” whereas over 2000
Women Councillors will also be participating in these events from over
26 Districts of Pakistan. The festival would be inaugurated by renowned
Poet, Ahmad Faraz along with other literary figures at the Rawalpindi
Arts Council. The event would be followed by a Cultural Evening March 7,
here at Pakistan Boy Scouts Association Headquarters.
