Anas Noorani resigns as JUP President
ISLAMABAD—President Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (JUP) Shah Anas Noorani has
resigned from the top slot of the party.
In resignation submitted at the meeting of the central Majlis-e-shoora
of the JUP in Lahore, he expressed his inability to work further as
party chief on personal grounds, GEO television reported. However,
according to the party sources, his resignation has not been approved
and a member of the Shoora Dr. Abul Khair Mohammad Zubair has been
nominated as acting president. Shah Anas Noorani was working as the
president of the JUP after the death of his father Maulana Shah Ahmed
Noorani.
