Staff Report

ISLAMABAD—Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has not yet announced its candidate for PM’s slot as the party wants to evolve consensus on establishing broad-based governments in centre and in provinces.
PPP’s central leader Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi told BBC radio that PPP leadership will announce the names of its parliamentary party leaders in centre and provinces at appropriate time as consultations are still continuing.
He said Pakistan Peoples Party was facing no problem in nominating its prime ministerial candidate. The only thing is that the newspapers too need news. Peoples are also evincing great interest due to its crucial nature. Otherwise he (Qureshi) doesn’t see any problem for resolving the issue.
Responding to a question he said negotiations are continuing with the MQM for establishing a broad-based government in Sindh. Regarding the issue of restoring judiciary he said legal experts are deliberating to resolve the issue. A delegation from Dera Ismail Khan met Co-Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari and demanded that PPP’s successful candidate Faisal Khan Kundi should be included in the federal cabinet of next government after its formation.
The delegation, led by PPP leader Ashraf Ali Zaidi, apprised Asif Zardari that past political government did nothing for the welfare of people of D.I.Khan. He said people are now expecting from the next government that their problems will be resolved and they will be provided all basic amenities of life.
He said the young elected PPP candidate Faisal Kundi who defeated Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman, has a vision and is fully committed to working for the people of the area. Asif Ali Zardari assured the delegation that PPP will take every step for the betterment of poor people. The delegation also met with other PPP central leaders and discussed party matters with them.
Co-Chairman of PPPP Asif Ali Zardari has called a meeting of the Parliamentary Party of the Pakistan Peoples Party on Thursday, March 6 at Zardari House in Islamabad . According to a press release, all elected MNAs including those elected on reserved seats have been asked to attend the meeting.
Meanwhile Senator Asif Ali Zardari left this morning for Dubai for a day to meet his children. He would return on Monday.
General Secretary of Jamiat Ulema- e-Islam (JUI-F) Sindh, Senator Khalid Mehmood Soomro has said that a government of national consensus should be established at the Centre.
Talking to his party workers on Sunday, he said he has no objection to the reinstatement of deposed judges. However, he added there was a dire need to review some constitutional clauses given ground realities like the appointment of chief justice.
He said his party’s Ameer Maulana Fazal-ur- Rehman has talked with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and it was decided at the meeting that the government of national consensus must be established in the centre.
