PML-Q, MQM agree to tread separate paths

KARACHI—PML-Q President and former Prime Minister Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain has said that PML-Q has no objection if Muthahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) decides to sit with the Government for the prosperity and development of the people and in the best interest of the province.
Talking to media at Nine Zero, headquarters MQM, here Sunday after meeting with MQM’s senior leadership, President PML-Q said MQM was, is and will remain as allied party of PML and the programmes for peoples’ uplift and country’s development will continue in future also.
President PML-Q informed that during the meeting, MQM chief Altaf Hussain also phoned him and assured that MQM and PML-Q was allied parties in the past, they will stay as allies and continue to cooperate with each other for the welfare of the people. He said all those people who were leaving the PML-Q would be back with double speed.
Secretary General Syed Mushahid Hussain said PML-Q and its allied parties had bagged highest number of votes in the elections and the cooperation between both the parties would continue in future also. He said all the decisions taken by the MQM would be fully supported by the PML and hoped that the time has come when all the decisions should be taken in the parliament. He said the report being made by the PML-Q government on the provincial autonomy should be implemented in letter and spirit.
NWFP PML-Q President Ameer Muqam said the cooperation between PML and its allied parties had tried their best to complete the development agenda being set by President Pervez Musharraf. He congratulated the leadership of MQM for giving them red carpet reception.
MQM Deputy Convenor Dr Farooq Sattar said that MQM would not forget old friends while making new friends adding that in order to steer the country out of present crises, the close cooperation and dialogue between all the political parties were necessary.
He said the main objective of MQM was to make country a true Islamic welfare and developed Pakistan which was dreamt by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. During the meeting, MQM leaders Babar Ghouri, Haider Abbas Rizvi and others were also present. Earlier, Ch Shujat went to the residence of National Peoples Party chief Malik Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi and discussed with him current political situation and other important matters. Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Sunday announced their unequivocal support to PML(Q) while MQM Chief Altaf Hussain said that his party had been with PML, it is with it and will remain in future also. The party’s announcement and Altaf Hussain’s assurance in this regard emerged on the occasion of a meeting between PML(Q) and MQM leadership at MQM headquarter here Sunday afternoon.
In the meeting which lasted for about 50 minutes the PML(Q)
team was led by its President Ch. Shujaat Hussain. He was accompanied by PML(Q) Secretary General Mushahid Hussain Sayed, Engr. Amir Muqam, Senator Ghaffar Qureshi, Tariq Hasan Khan, Aleem Adil Shaikh, Bostan Ali Hoti and Amanullah Khan Paracha.
The MQM side was represented by Deputy Convenor its Rabita Committee, Dr. Farooq Sattar, former federal minister Babar Khan Ghauri, Haider Abbas Rizvi, Anwar Alam, Shahid Lateef, Ashfaq Mangi, Dr Aasim, Nek Mohammed and Mumtaz Anwar baji.
