MoU on climatic Research in Karakorum Area signed

ISLAMABAD—Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) and Mount Everest-Mount K2-National Research Council (Ev-K2-CNR) Committee (A non-profit Association), Republic of Italy have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Saturday at PMD Headquarters.
The MoU aims at strengthening the scientific base for studying the climate change impacts by collecting high altitude data in the Karakorum Region of Pakistan, said a message received here. The government has recently approved the signing of this MoU. The MoU builds upon the recent successful scientific and cultural collaboration between Italy and Pakistan, further to the celebration of the K2 Golden Jubilee in 2004. The MoU was signed by Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman Chaudhry, Director General, PMD and Agostino Da Polenza, President and Legal Representative of the Ev-K2-CNR Committee on behalf of the PMD and Ev-k2-CNR committee respectively in the presence of senior officials of both PMD and Ev-K2-CNR Committee.—Agencies
