New PM may take oath by 15th

ISLAMABAD—Caretaker Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Nisar A Memon has said that new Prime Minister will take oath from March 12 to 15. Talking to newsmen he said that the newly elected legislators would take oath on March 5 while Election Commission of Pakistan can issue the notification of successful candidates on March 1. The Independent candidates could join any party from March 2 to 9 and seats of minorities and women will be distributed after the affiliation of independent members. He said that Speaker and Deputy Speaker election will be held on March 6 or 7 through secret balloting.
New political development is expected in next week that could affect the politics of the country, he predicted. Well-placed Sources told Online that the meeting lasted for quite a while in which host of issues pertaining to higher Judiciary came under discussion. Justice Sharif Uddin Pirzada gave a detailed briefing to President Musharraf regarding various options. During the meeting, President Musharraf made it clear that no one would be allowed to de-rail democratic process in country.—Agencies
