Nisar admits 8000 visas for Korea wasted
By Fakhar Alam

ISLAMABAD—Federal Minister for Manpower and Overseas, Nisar Gumhan on Thursday admitted that 8000 labor visas for Korea had been wasted due to the dereliction of Overseas Foundation. On a point of order during senate session, the federal minister told that the police mafia has full control over the overseas foundation and has become a hub of corruption and mismanagement.
He told that the performance of the Overseas Foundation is nil and due to their negligence and incompetence 8000 labor visas out of 10000 that Korea had issued had been wasted. The Korean ambassador even complained about this and 8400 people even gave the Korean language test out of which 2047 passed. It is the responsibility of the foundation to teach Korean language but it could not do so because it has become a hub of police mafia, he opined. He said that foundation had become mere institutions to benefit some special persons as 5 per cent students of foreign employees were studying in the schools of the foundation.
He lamented over the progress of the foundation because million of people had been sent abroad during last three years but the record of the foundation indicates only one thousand persons. Meanwhile, Senator Saadia Abbasi on point of order said that Provincial Minister Suleman Taseer had appointed Mubashir Luqman as advisor after the general elections. Senator Raza Rabbani said that his appointment was illegal and he could not approve the ECNEC projects. Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Nisar Memon clarified the position of the government and said that it was legal appointment. However, on protest of opposition, the Presiding Officer handed over the matter to Standing Committee for Information and Broadcasting.
On another point of order, Senator Anwar Baig said that former Federal Ministers were still using bulletproof official vehicles which tantamount to misconduct and corruption.
He said that former ministers such as Engineer Amir Mukam, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, Aftab Sherpao and Faisal Saleh Hayat are still using official bullet proof cars which is sheer corruption and asked the government to clarify its position. Earlier, the legislators of opposition parties staged protest demonstration against the possessing of official vehicles by Federal Ministers.
