Rawal Town parks in shambles

RAWALPINDI—All the Parks situated in vicinity of Rawal Town lacks facilities and entertainment opportunities due to mismanagement and security. Shamsabad Public Park, commonly known as Nawaz Sharif Park and other Parks in Seattleite Town is being ignored by the authorities as neither watchman nor gardeners were available there. The people living Rawal Town blamed town Nazim Rashid Shafiq for this negligence.
A large number of people visit the Shamsabad Park for a small break from daily routine. Rides, a major attraction for children and benches has almost broken while mechanical rides are also unsafe because of faulty power systems and old machinery. A few drug addicts were also seen in the corners. A senior official in Rawal Town Administration said that they were aware of the deteriorating condition of the park and had sent a proposal to higher authorities for its improvement. “We lack funds and staff to maintain the park. We have asked the authorities for funding so that we can recruit staff for maintenance of the park,” he said.
In B-Block, Municipal Park-III is being ignored by the authorities, as college students were seen playing crickets there. Games like cricket and football etc are prohibited in parks. The students playing in the park told Online that nobody had asked them to leave the park Satellite Town is thought to be the most expensive residential area in Rawalpindi. The people living in the town are considered well established but the administration’s behavior towards them cannot be justified.
